Born and raised in Jakarta, Andrianus Oetjoe is based in Berlin. He was a Goethe-Institut fellow (2017) and a Crossing Borders fellow of the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (2019). His fourth-generation Chinese-Indonesian background shapes his artistic practice, which operates at the intersection of documentary filmmaking and visual art, examining the mediality of collective memory, trauma, and social exclusion. He studied documentary filmmaking under Arne Birkenstock and Bernd Schoch, and is currently studying visual arts at HFBK Hamburg in Klasse Omer Fast.
