Indonesia is a transit country for humans which try to reach Australia fleeing from the conflicts in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Myanmar or for humans which hope for a better economic future in Australia like South Asian refugees. Indonesia itself has a very rigid policy towards refugees, which are detained until a country is willing to receive them.
The Film maker was able to interview an Indonesia fisher who was smuggling humans to Australia. He was also able to enter a detention centre in Jakarta by pretending to bring presents to the refugees on Indul Fitri the highest Muslim holiday. The keepers took their share from the presents for allwoing him to enter.
